Electronics Technician — Security, Video Surveillance, Access Control, Internet and Two-Way Radio

TWR Communications is looking for new members to add to its T-E-A-M. TWR Communications has been in business continually since the 1940s.

Employment opportunities include an Electronics Technician and Installer for Home and Commercial Security, Video Surveillance, Access Control, Wireless Internet, Two-Way Radios on TWR's Network and other Products and Services the company offers.

TWR Communications has been in business since the 1940s specializing over the years in Two-Way Radio, Paging, Customer Home & Commercial Security, Video Surveillance Systems, Cellular, Internet and Telephone Answering Service. We are the

    only locally
based full line communications carrier left in the Cumberland area and we Monitor Customers Alarms and Networks by our own staff through 24/7/365 Call Center.


Brief Summary/Objective

The electronics technician Installs, Maintains, Programs, and Tests both Residential and Commercial Security, Video Surveillance, and Access Control Systems. Additionally, they will be Installing Wireless Internet equipment, Two-Way Radios and other related components.

Position may occasionally involve climbing ladders, trouble-shooting and installing systems in the field at Homes, Businesses, and sometimes Vehicles.

While most systems are wireless in today's modern world, some systems require wiring and programming to ensure that systems are maintained in accordance with relevant codes.

T-E-A-M-W-O-R-K is essential and TWR prides itself by communicating with other members of TWR's T-E-A-M. This is one ingredient that is necessary to keep TWR a leader in the communications field in the Tri-State area.

Ability to utilize and interpret various testing tools through the use of a computer and web portals while other systems are hands-on programming with manuals.

While soldering experience is not necessary, it may become useful in certain applications.

Ability to work with minimal supervision. Maintaining a safe working environment is a must.

Essential Functions

  • Troubleshoots and repair electronic equipment, including programming, power supplies, gauges and test equipment.
  • Program analog and digital Security and Video Surveillance systems.
  • Install, maintain, or repair security systems, alarm devices, or related equipment.
  • Following a schedule to visit customers in their home or business.
  • Program and install Two-Way Radios.
  • Mount and fasten control panels, door and window contacts, sensors, or video cameras and attach electrical and telephone wiring to connect components.
  • Position equipment using hand tools, power tools, or heavy equipment.
  • Demonstrate systems for customers and explain details, such as the causes and consequences of false alarms.
  • Explain use of products or services.
  • Record all purchases and sales of parts and equipment using the line numbers on each item to maintain accuracy in billing and inventory levels.
  • Inform appropriate management of potential system outages and work to restore services when needed.

In a commercial setting, our Service Technicians are well versed in both installations and service and are responsible for installing, programming, and troubleshooting security equipment, responding to service calls and customer training.

Qualifications

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to read and write English.

  • Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record to be insurable and able to operate a company vehicle.
  • Criminal Background Check for the Security side of TWR's operations.

Added Value

Considerable Experience is not required but would have exceptional value.

  • Understand Security, Video Surveillance, Access Control, Wireless Internet, and/or Two-Way Radio equipment.
  • Prior Installation of any of the Products that the company offers.
  • RF and microwave experience a plus or willingness to be trained to learn.

Added Skills/Past Experience Value

These skills are not required, but places an enhancement to potential candidates for this position.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and occasionally climbing ladders. Heavy lifting is uncommon with most items being less than 20 pounds.
